Soley Space is a film studio founded and creatively led by filmmaker Burak Soley and creative director and designer Günseli Türkay. The studio develops original and commissioned films across cinema, art, design and contemporary culture.
Günseli Türkay was born in Ankara in 1977. After studying Economics at METU, she pursued Fashion Design in Florence and completed her Master’s degree in Textile Innovation Design with a full scholarship at Accademia Costume & Moda in Rome in 2011. After five years as a professional designer, she founded her own studio in Istanbul’s Akaretler district, developing collections for brands and manufacturers. Between 2009 and 2017, under her eponymous label Günseli Türkay, she created artist-collaborative collections and reached international concept stores. In 2010, she was named “Young Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year” by the British Council. From 2018 to 2023, she worked as Creative Director and Designer for Kutnia, a project transforming the traditional Ottoman textile kutnu into a contemporary brand, directing all of its fashion films. In 2017, she co-founded Soley Space with Burak Soley, producing films, documentaries, and cultural projects for art institutions. She continues to work on the documentary series Mandarin Dogs and Cities & People.
Burak Soley was born in Istanbul in 1987. A graduate of Yeditepe University’s Radio, Television, and Cinema Department, his short film Filth (2016) was selected for the official programs of the Moscow and Leeds International Film Festivals. His current projects include Mandarin Dogs, focusing on the lives of street animals (Istanbul Experimental FORA project selection), and the feature-length documentary Cities & People. Together with Günseli Türkay, he co-founded Soley Space Studio, producing films, documentaries, and artist portraits for art institutions including Pera Museum and Dirimart. Alongside their film work, they founded Gunseli Studio in 2019 — a vegan fashion label rooted in Mediterranean wildflowers and their photographic botanical archive, which forms the visual and conceptual foundation of the brand’s vegan collections.
